Songs from the music house. Finally!
My residency at The Music House in Omaha has been a truly life-changing experience. Learning how to live life on my own terms has been harder than I would’ve imagined. But it’s also been more freeing than I’d ever imagined! Through the good days, the hard days and the even harder days, I’ve discovered more about the importance of friendships and community, the healing nature of expression and creativity, and I’ve learned that, despite the hardships, I’m resilient as hell! I’m not going to lie, I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished in such a short time here. I’ve worked hard on creating new music at The Music House that explores heartbreak, joy, pleasure, kindness, anger and even leaned into the silly. I’ve explored songs from my early days and have reflected on how much has changed since I wrote my first songs in 2008. I’ve also made incredible connections with other musicians here in Omaha. The scene here runs far deeper than I had expected and I find myself moved and inspired by the artistry happening here.
So I’m excited to bring just a handful of those folks that have inspired me while in Omaha to the stage for my show May 17 at Jewell on Capitol. Songs From The Music House is really my love letter to Omaha. While here I’ve found inspiration, friendship, joy and, not to be too corny (but come on, it’s me), I’ve found a greater understanding of how I fit in this gigantic world. It’s certainly been a time of personal growth and renewal professionally as well as personally, and I’m so very lucky to have had this experience. I need to thank the Catalyst Foundation and Jeff Davis and Vanessa Marie (Playing with Fire) for the residency at The Music House. This concert at Jewell on Capitol is all thanks to you. For my friends in the Midwest, I’d be so grateful if you’d consider joining me for this night. It’s going to be special for so many reasons and having the support means more than you know. I’m not taking any money for this night. Everything is going to the venue and, most importantly, to the musicians that are part of the crafting of this night of music. Thank you for your ticket purchase and please feel free to tell others! 💛
And a heads up: I have some news to share soon and will be updating my website with dates in the coming two weeks. Feel free to also get alerts on dates by following me at bandsintown.com/jenigrouws
